Asbestos Surveying in Kent
Its purpose is to detect the presence of any suspect asbestos-containing materials in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy. Our report will demonstrate, the location, condition, volume and type of asbestos contained within the material sampled.
The survey will usually involve sampling and analysis to confirm the presence or absence of asbestos. To ensure a cost-effective approach to our clients, if the material sampled is found to contain asbestos, other similar materials used in the same way can be presumed to be the same material, therefore reducing the overall cost of the survey.
The survey will ensure asbestos is correctly detected and can then be tested appropriately.
A refurbishment and demolition survey is needed before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out. This type of survey is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all ACMs in the area where the work will take place or in the whole building if demolition is planned.
Refurbishment and demolition surveys are intended to locate all the asbestos in the building as far as reasonably practicable and may need to destructively penetrate all parts of the building structure. A full sampling programme is undertaken to identify possible asbestos-containing materials and to estimate the volume and surface area of the material identified.
If you are having any work carried out on your building it is vital that you get an asbestos survey carried out. The risks associated with the disturbance of asbestos simply aren’t worth it so it is always recommended to at least get the area tested before going further with any building works.

Why Do I Need an Asbestos Survey?
If you suspect that there is asbestos in your property or building then it is vital that you get an asbestos survey. An asbestos survey will be able to identify any asbestos-containing materials (ACMS) that are present in the building. You must also get an asbestos survey if you are planning to do any refurbishment or demolition work on your building if it was constructed pre-2000.
Without an asbestos survey, we won’t be able to confirm any suspected asbestos in your home. This is also important when it comes to managing the asbestos as a survey can form the basis of your plan for asbestos management. Once your asbestos survey has been carried out then we will be able to confirm any asbestos-containing materials. If your property does contain asbestos and requires an asbestos removal, then we will need to organise an asbestos removal service with you. This will enable us to rid your property of the dangerous asbestos.
