TYPE 1: Location and Assessment Survey
(Presumptive Survey)

A Type 1 Survey is to locate the presence and extent of any suspected Asbestos Containing Material and asses its condition. The survey essentially defers the need to sample and analyse for asbestos (or the absence therefore) until a later time e.g. prior to demolition or major refurbishment.

All areas will be accessed and inspected as far as reasonably practicable. Any material which can reasonably be suspected to contain asbestos or have a strong evidence that it does contain asbestos must be presumed or strongly presumed to contain asbestos, unless there is sufficient evidence to suggest that they do not contain any asbestos.
